Ladyhawker - On Sabbatical

I am a Woman Falconer! Falconry is a part of my life and personality. In no way however should anyone construe my life and writings to be the example of all falconers. This blog is about my experiences, and it includes my personal life as well. For now, I am in school and cannot practice this sport, so there is not much falconry related stuff to write about. I will fly a bird again . . . Some Day!

Spring Arrives

The days grow longer. The grass is beginning to green a little. All the snow has melted.

It is early April, and all the signs of spring are here! Even though the forcast says some snow possible tonight, it will not stay for long. The whooping cranes are back in the area. If you know nothing about the program, go to this link and look them up!

I have been working to finally prepare one of the rooms in my house. It nears completion. Soon, I will be looking to find a room-mate. It is not that I necessarily WANT someone to come live here. But that I NEED to share my expenses. My long-term survival here depends upon it. Tomorrow I start a new job. There are disadvantages to it. There are advantages. I hope very quickly the advantages outweight the disadvantages. I'm a little nervous about it . . . but I have confidence I shall do fine. It has all the potential to be exactly what I need for the next couple years. Flexible . . . so I can continue with my classes.

There is a new animal guest in my home. But hopefully he will not stay too long. My friend Doug is doing well recovering from his ordeal with lymphoma. His cancer is in remission. He returns to work. Because of a change in his life, an African Gray parrot which lived in his home no longer has anyone to care for him. So he's living with me. (the parrot, not Doug) I have already sent out the word through my friend Darla. He will go live with a professional parrot keeper soon. But for now he entertains me with his crude phrases and funny beeps and whistles. After all . . . he was living around a couple of naughty teen-aged boys. You can just imagine what he says!!

His name is Bailey!

Life moves on!

Maybe if it gets cold enough I can try one last time for a bunny for Nina. But the season is pretty much over. 29 rabbits and 2 squirrels. That's good for me!!

She has helped me get through this terrible winter in my life!

She and several other dear friends!

Thank you All!!
